Today FF Zach Apgar and Explorer "Reggie" Carr added new signage to Engine 4 so that members can quickly locate Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) equipment at fire scenes.
Rapid Intervention Teams are a new concept for the fire service. A RIT team's sole purpose is to rescue trapped or injured firefighters. York Village Fire has some rigorous RIT team training in it's upcoming fire training calendar. Thank You to the above mentioned members who spearheaded the effort to identify this critical equipment on Engine 4.

Tonight was our weekly Thursday night training. Companies went to the former Fazio's restaurant on Woodbridge Rd. for some hands on training with hoselines and hose advancement. Engine company Crews were dealt some difficult scenarios with lengthy hose stretches to remote parts of the building requiring much coordination, teamwork, and communication. Truck 8 utilized its aerial ladder and several ground ladders to support the simulated fire attack going on within the building. The Truck 8 crew even managed to advance a hoseline over the aerial into a second floor window, getting themselves in on one of the "interior attack" evolutions. Engine 4 took over the ventilation duties for that drill.
