Tuesday, August 24, 2010 Around 4 pm York Village and York Beach were dispatched to a reported fire in the kitchen at Stonewall Kitchen Cafe. Prior to the arrival of the units York Dispatch came back on to advise responding units that workers were unable to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher. Squad 2 and York Beach Chief 214 arrived to find a small fire in a frialater. C-2 arrived and took Stonewall command and shortly after advised the small fire had been extinguished by the members with the use of two Class K fire extinguishers. York Beach Engine 1 stood by for a short time before being returned to service. Squad 2, C-2, and C-4 remained on the scene to investigate and notify the Health Dept. of the situation because the kitchen suppression system was activated. Units returned to service within the hour.
