Brush 10 works fire in "the sawdust pit"

Wednesday, August 18, 2010 1600 hrs. Late afternoon, York Village Fire responded to Edison Dr. off Woodbridge Rd. for a report of a small brush fire.  Brush 10 and Squad 2 responded,  FF Joe Fox stood by at the firehouse to staff Tank 4.  On arrival crews found a small brush fire  15'x15' in "the sawdust pit" which is a large area of sawdust, approximately 1 acre in size left over from a former saw mill on the site.  The members stretched 300' of 1" forestry hose to reach the fire, which had started to burn down into the deep sawdust. Upon further inspection C-1 found evidence of illegal fireworks had been displayed there, clearly a poor choice of locations for this activity. Companies picked-up and returned within the hour.
