Fundraising

The York Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting a series of fundraising events to put money towards the purchase of a new brush truck. The new brush truck will replace the aging Engine 2. Engine 2 is a 1986 GMC that was first purchased as Squad 1. This unit was the first response vehicle to all medical related calls for service until 1999 when it was replaced by the current Squad 1. Once replaced, the York Fire Department along with Captain Jack Lowe, owner of Jack's Towing, replaced the rescue box with a utility bed, pump and water tank. The unit was designated as Engine 2 and now runs on all wild land/brush fires and many service calls such as road closures, power lines down, and also pulls our hazardous materials decontamination trailer.

Please help the York Volunteer Fire Department raise enough money to purchase a brand new brush truck. The new vehicle will be used for brush/off road wild land fire suppression, wild land search and rescue, rope/water rescue, road closures, evacuations, storm weather related incidents such as wires down, delivery of manpower, and running fire department errands.

The estimated cost for such a vehicle is around $70,000. This costs includes a 1 Ton Chassis, custom built body with a 300 gallon water tank and pump, lap top with GPS technology, and miscellaneous needs such as warning lights, tools etc.
